Getting Started

What is The Numerologist?

The Numerologist is a personal numerology app. It calculates your core numbers from your name and date of birth, then gives you readings, timing forecasts, compatibility insights, and daily guidance based on those numbers. Think of it as a numerological profile that updates daily.

How do I set up my profile?

When you first open the app, you'll enter your full birth name (the name on your birth certificate), your current name if different, and your date of birth. That's all we need. Your numbers are calculated immediately and your profile is built from there.

What's the difference between my birth name and current name?

Your birth name is the name given to you at birth — the one on your original birth certificate. Your current name is what you go by now (married name, chosen name, shortened name, etc.). Both produce valid numerology. During onboarding, you choose which one to use for your readings. You can switch between them anytime in Edit Profile.

What if I change my name calculation?

Switching between your birth name and current name will recalculate your name-derived numbers — Expression, Soul Urge, and Personality. Your date-based numbers (Life Path, Birthday Number, Pinnacles, timing) stay the same. The app will reload with your updated numerology.

Do I need to know anything about numerology to use this?

No. The app explains everything as it goes. If you want to learn more about the system, visit "How Numerology Works" in the sidebar.

Your Numbers

How is my Life Path calculated?

Your Life Path number is derived from your full date of birth. Each part of the date (day, month, year) is reduced to a single digit, then those three digits are added and reduced again. If the final sum is 11, 22, or 33, it's kept as a Master Number rather than reduced further.

What's the difference between Expression, Soul Urge, and Personality?

These three numbers come from your name. Expression uses all the letters, Soul Urge uses only the vowels, and Personality uses only the consonants. Together they form your "Big Three" — a triangle of who you are (Expression), what you want (Soul Urge), and how others see you (Personality).

What are Master Numbers?

Master Numbers are 11, 22, and 33. They carry intensified energy and aren't reduced to single digits in calculations. If your Life Path, Expression, or Soul Urge is a Master Number, your reading will reflect that. Not everyone has a Master Number — most people don't.

Why do I have a Birthday Number?

Your Birthday Number is simply the day of the month you were born, reduced to a single digit (or Master Number). It's one of the simpler numbers in your chart but it influences how you approach practical matters and daily life.

What is the Maturity Number?

Your Maturity Number is the sum of your Life Path and Expression numbers. It represents the energy that becomes more prominent in the second half of life — typically from your mid-30s onward. It's a slow-developing influence.

What are composites like "Surface and Depth"?

Composites are combinations of two core numbers that create a specific dynamic. "Surface and Depth" combines your Personality (how you appear on the surface) with your Soul Urge (what drives you at depth). These pairings reveal tensions, alignments, and patterns that single numbers don't show on their own.

My numbers seem wrong. What should I check?

First, verify your birth date and name in Edit Profile. The most common errors are typos in the birth name or using a nickname instead of the full birth certificate name. If your numbers still seem off, contact us — we'll help you check.

Features

How does the daily forecast work?

Every day, the app calculates your Personal Day number (from your birth date and today's date) and combines it with the Universal Day number (from today's date alone). Your forecast is built from the interaction between these numbers, your Personal Month, and your core chart. It updates at midnight in your timezone.

What are Signals?

Signals are number synchronicities — repeating numbers, mirror times, and patterns you notice in daily life. When you see one (like 11:11 on your phone), you log it. The app gives you the meaning. If you log multiple signals in a day, a synthesis tells you what they mean together.

How do I log a Signal?

Tap the Signals tab and use the quick-log button. Enter the number you saw.

What is Consult?

Consult is a conversation with your numerologist — an AI that knows your full chart. You can ask it anything about your numbers, timing, relationships, or decisions. It gives answers grounded in your specific numerology, not generic responses. Free users get 3 conversations to try it out.

What does "conversation" mean in Consult?

A conversation is a thread — you ask a question, discuss it back and forth, and reach a conclusion. That's one conversation. Follow-up questions within the same thread don't use additional credits. Starting a new topic starts a new conversation and uses one credit.

How does compatibility work?

Add a friend (by handle, phone contacts, or manual entry with their birth date) and the app calculates compatibility across multiple dimensions. You'll see an overview, what works between you, growth edges, and how your timing aligns. Full Access members see the complete readings.

What is the Date Picker?

Date Picker lets you check the numerological energy of any date — useful if you're planning something important and want to see how a specific day aligns with your chart. Available with Full Access.

What is Name Lab?

Name Lab lets you test any name and see its numerological breakdown. Useful for baby names, business names, pen names, or just curiosity. Free users get 3 tests per day.

Friends & Social

How do I add a friend?

Go to the Friends tab and tap "Add friend." You can search by handle, find people from your phone contacts who also use the app, or add someone manually by entering their name and birth date.

Can people see that I've added them?

If you add an existing user as a friend, they'll receive a friend request. If you add someone manually (not on the app), nobody is notified — it's a private profile in your account.

What is a private account?

When your account is set to private (in Privacy settings), other users can't find you through handle search or phone contacts matching. Your existing friends stay connected. You can still add others.

How do I block someone?

Go to their profile and tap the menu, or find them in Settings → Blocked Users. Blocked users can't find you, send requests, or see your profile. They won't know they've been blocked.

Membership & Purchases

What is Full Access?

Full Access is the subscription membership. It opens the full depth of every surface — extended readings, timing forecasts, daily synthesis, full compatibility, unlimited Consult conversations, and all tools. Everything that fades for free users becomes fully visible.

What's the difference between Full Access and Reports?

Full Access is an ongoing subscription that gives you depth across the entire app. Reports are separate one-time purchases — standalone documents with deep analysis on a specific topic (like your Year Ahead or Personal Portrait). Reports are saved to your Archive permanently, even if you cancel Full Access.

How do Consult bundles work?

If you don't want Full Access but want more Consult conversations, you can buy bundles (5, 25, or 50 conversations). These don't expire. They're used only when you start a new conversation.

How do Signals synthesis packs work?

Synthesis packs give you a set number of days where your daily signal synthesis is available. A 7-day pack means 7 days of synthesis. A 30-day pack means 30 days. Full Access members get unlimited synthesis.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Membership → Manage Subscription. This links to your App Store or Google Play subscription management. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Full Access until then.

How do I restore purchases?

Go to Settings → Membership → Restore Purchases. This will recover any active subscriptions or previously purchased reports and bundles that are linked to your App Store or Google Play account.

I bought a report. Where is it?

In your Archive. Tap Archive in the sidebar — all your purchased reports and saved items are there.

The Basics

What is numerology?

Numerology is the study of the symbolic significance of numbers. Dating back thousands of years, it's based on the principle that numbers carry vibrational energies that influence our lives. Every letter in your name and every digit in your birth date can be reduced to a single-digit number (1–9) or a Master Number (11, 22, 33). These numbers reveal patterns about your personality, strengths, challenges, and life purpose.

What is the Pythagorean system?

The Numerologist uses the Pythagorean (Western) system exclusively — the most widely practiced form of numerology today. It assigns numbers to letters as follows: 1 = A, J, S / 2 = B, K, T / 3 = C, L, U / 4 = D, M, V / 5 = E, N, W / 6 = F, O, X / 7 = G, P, Y / 8 = H, Q, Z / 9 = I, R.

How are numerology numbers calculated?

Most numbers are found through digit reduction — adding digits together until you reach a single digit (1–9) or a Master Number (11, 22, 33). For example, to reduce 1987: 1 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7. For name-based numbers, each letter is converted to its Pythagorean digit, and the digits are summed and reduced.

Core Numbers

What is a Life Path number?

The most significant number in your chart. Calculated from your complete date of birth, it represents your core purpose — the path you're meant to walk. It never changes.

What is the Expression number?

Also called the Destiny number. Calculated from all the letters in your full birth name. It reveals your natural abilities, talents, and the goals you're meant to achieve.

What is the Soul Urge?

The Soul Urge (or Heart's Desire) comes from the vowels in your birth name. It represents your deepest inner motivations — what truly drives you, even if you're not consciously aware of it.

What is the Personality number?

Calculated from the consonants in your name. Your Personality number is the outer you — how others perceive you and the first impression you make.

What is the Birthday Number?

The day of the month you were born, reduced to a single digit or Master Number. It adds a special talent or practical gift to your chart.

What is the Attitude Number?

Calculated from your birth month and birth day. Your Attitude number shapes how you first respond to situations and how people perceive you before they really know you.

Deeper Layers

What are Karmic Lessons?

Karmic Lessons are the digits (1–9) that are missing from your full name's letter mapping. Each missing number represents an energy you didn't bring into this life and need to develop. Most people have 1–3 Karmic Lessons.

What is Karmic Debt?

Karmic Debt numbers (13, 14, 16, 19) appear when your core numbers reduce through one of these values. They indicate specific lessons carried over that require extra effort to resolve. Not everyone has Karmic Debt.

What is a Hidden Passion?

Your Hidden Passion is the digit that appears most frequently in your name's letter mapping. It reveals a natural strength or intense drive that may not be obvious from your core numbers alone.

What is the Subconscious Self?

Calculated as 9 minus your number of Karmic Lessons. It measures how many of the nine core energies (1–9) are present in your name. A higher Subconscious Self number suggests broader resourcefulness under pressure.

What is the Balance Number?

Derived from the initials of each part of your name. The Balance number reveals how you handle emotional difficulty and crisis situations.

Master Numbers

What are Master Numbers 11, 22, and 33?

Master Numbers carry amplified energy and are preserved during reduction rather than being reduced further. 11 — The Intuitive: heightened intuition, spiritual insight, sensitivity. 22 — The Master Builder: ability to turn dreams into reality, practical visionary. 33 — The Master Teacher: nurturing, selfless service, spiritual upliftment. Having a Master Number brings both gifts and intensity.

Cycles & Timing

What is a Personal Year?

Your Personal Year describes the overall theme and energy of your current year. Calculated from your birth month, birth day, and the calendar year, then reduced. Important: your Personal Year changes on your birthday, not January 1st.

What are Personal Month and Personal Day?

Within your Personal Year, each month and day has its own energy. Your Personal Month adds the Personal Year to the calendar month. Your Personal Day adds the Personal Month to the calendar day. Both reduce to 1–9.

What are Pinnacles and Challenges?

Your life is divided into four major periods called Pinnacles, each calculated from components of your birth date. Challenges are calculated alongside Pinnacles using subtraction rather than addition, and show the obstacles you'll face during each period.

Our Approach

How does numerology compatibility work?

When you add a friend, The Numerologist compares your charts across multiple dimensions — including Life Path, Expression, and Soul Urge. For each dimension, we look at whether your numbers match, how far apart they are, and what composite number your combination creates.

What is timing alignment in compatibility?

Beyond static number comparison, compatibility includes timing. Your Personal Year, Month, and Day cycles interact with the other person's cycles. Some periods naturally bring you closer together; others create productive tension.

What makes The Numerologist different?

The Numerologist calculates your full chart — not just a Life Path number. Your profile includes core numbers, pattern numbers, timing cycles, and life phases, all working together. Readings and forecasts are built from the relationships between your numbers, not from any single number in isolation.

What are numerology's limitations?

Numerology is a tool for self-reflection and personal growth, not a predictive science. Your numbers describe tendencies and potentials, not fixed destinies. Free will always plays a role — your numbers show the cards you were dealt, but you choose how to play them.

Still have questions? The Numerologist has a built-in consultation room where you can ask anything about your numbers.
